IBM Boulder IP address changes.

Posted in

SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval, ShopzSeries, the Boulder 'testcase' server, and other service related servers will change public internet IP addresses beginning May 3, 2009. These IP address changes may require customer action to ensure uninterrupted downloads of products and service, and uploads of problem related diagnostic data.

In support of IBM network infrastructure improvements, beginning May 3, 2009 public internet IP addresses will be changing for several Boulder servers. Included are servers which support download processing of z/OS product and service orders for SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval (the SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER command), ShopzSeries, and servers which provide other product and service download functions, and the Boulder server to send problem related diagnostic data to IBM (testcase.boulder.ibm.com). The hostnames will remain the same but any applications that use an IP address will need to be updated. Moreover, firewall rules may need to be updated to permit access even though the applications use a hostname.

It is recommended that firewall rule changes be made as soon as possible. Rather than deleting or changing the old IP addresses, the new IP addresses should be added and the old addresses removed once it has been determined all processes are successfully using the new IP addresses.

Cases where an IP address is necessary instead of a hostname in a specific application, that change must coordinate with the scheduled IP change date for the specific server.
